Attack, incident, or massacre? How to describe the killing of Jews on Wikipedia.

A discussion has emerged suggesting an alternate title to the article “2001 March Itamer attacks.”

One editor argues:

Itamar killings → Fogel family massacre. The latter has become by far the most common name for this event. Google hits:
Fogel family massacre: 404,000
Itamar massacre: 149,000
Itamar attack: 86,000
Itamar killings: 39,000
March 2011 Itamar attack (title as of this writing)

“It goes without saying that Fogel family massacre is more recognizable, natural and precise than the alternatives, as there have been several “attacks” and “killings” in Itamar, and the distinguishing characteristic of this incident is the targeting of a particular family. The current title, “March 2011 Itamar attack”, besides being unknown outside of Wikipedia, is simply awful: long, awkward and vague”

Convincing, yes? No, says Owain the 1st.

“I see your dishonest agenda thanks and now so can everyone else.Have to be in quotation marks? LOL..bit of a joke that is.Obviously in google searches it is far far more well known by Itamar murders..which is what is was murders.Itamar attack comes in at 2 million hits.”

For starters, using Google hits as a parameter to determine notability is flawed. Rarely should it be considered reliable in content disputes. However, the definition and precedents set by events characterized as massacres serve as a far more persuasive outline in judging future disputes. The brutal slaughter of the Fogel family cannot in any moral honest manner be described as an “attack.”

Those who are reading this and don’t quite understand the realities of the Fogel murders…see for yourselves.

I regret that Wikipedia allows this sort of news article.

A good example is the Rachel Corrie article. She was a woman who died young, and of her own account was of no particular distinction; but, because of her manner of death, a WP article now exists that is nothing better than propaganda extravaganza for the Palestinian side in the Israel/Palestine conflict. Her death was unfortunate, but certainly not the stuff of an encyclopedia article.

Of course, if one side is allowed to do that, the other side should also be expected to do the same. But it was a mistake to allow Wikipedia to go down the path of including articles about non-notable people. I do not mean by this that they are not good people who died tragic deaths, but that there is nothing notable (by an encyclopedic definition) about getting run over by an Israeli tractor, or getting murdered by politically and religiously motivated Palestinian lunatics.

Exemplary of dishonest decisions by biased administrators answering calls by anti-Jewish users’ fake charges of “SP”

Oct. 2010

Some evidence of discrepancies in biased anti-Israel “decisions” by administrators on wikipedia, especially in regards to accepting bogus claims of so-called “sockpuppet” account, a routine tactic orchestrated by Arabists racists and recently, a known Nazi has picked up the method as well.

The infamous anti-Jewish “contributor” on wikipedia: Noleander (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Contributions/Noleander, like creating the BS page: “Jews and money,” rewriting the history of slavery by Christians and by Arab-Muslims and blaming the Jews instead… [Louis Farrakhan material], created page: Racism in Israel,’ [originally based on radical lefty journalists in Israel's personal opinions (not facts) and cherry-picking cases to make it look like Israel is all bad, ignoring the genuine worry for survival against Arabs from within and from surrounding areas committed to its destruction. while removing all material showing the wide preferential treatment by Israeli system for Israeli-Arabs than for Israeli-Jews. Also demonizing differences in customs and sincere worry by religious educational authorities for preserving tradition as some kind of a "race" thing)].created page: ‘Judaism and violence’ and other material)
whose hateful numerous articles go on with impunity, has “complained” that curvesall used more than one account, in order to shut off any criticism of his venomous articles and so-called research, gobbling dirt on Jews and on Judaism, much based on far fetched opinions and OR (original research).

Administrators CHOSE to believe his opinions, even though not conclusive proof was provided and numerous people got removed from wikipedia based on this argument.
Here’s one example how [this case, for instance] it can not be true.
The following two persons: Ip82166 and RS101 can not be the same. Look at the difference in the 4 minutes apart. Keep in mind that they are not from the IP address (otherwise an administrator would have argued that easily detected ‘obvious’ argument immediately).
